Charles Krug 2022 CHARDONNAY Carneros • Napa Valley 2 THE WINE The cool and foggy Carneros region is known for producing grapes with a natural balance of acidity and ripeness. Fruit was hand-picked in the cool of night to ensure it reached the winery in pristine condition. This elegantly balanced, medium-bodied wine is 53% French oak barrel (14% new) fermented and aged sur-lie. The wine’s bouquet is complex with lemon blossom, white floral, star fruit, and with a touch of oak. Its flavors showcase bright citrus, a hint of apple, and toasty oak on the long finish. THE VINTAGE The 2021 growing season was warm and quite stable with crop loads a bit lighter than normal due to drought conditions throughout the state. Harvest of the lighter weight but intensely flavored clusters began in mid-August for whites, and extended into the red varietals into mid-October. pH 3.60 Varietals 100% Chardonnay 53% French oak barrel fermented (14% new) Bottled August 2022 Alcohol 14.3%
